Sessions is a novel I was destined to read and love thanks to its thrilling and exciting themes that make for a perfect, unforgettable story. Psychological thrillers have to be my most favorite genre of all but what I love the most about this genre is when I discover a book in it which stands out amongst the crowded genre, and Sessions is that book for me. This is because Sessions is a book you will rarely come across, firstly it has some of the best suspenseful writing I have ever witnessed in a thriller novel, but also the book features daring and brave female protagonists that will captivate its readers.
Sessions for me was an incredibly thrilling novel, and this is thanks to the combination of action, suspense, murder and crime and the incredible author B.J. Thompson wonderfully weaves all of these themes together which in turn takes the readers on an unforgettable journey full of twists and turns galore. When I read the description of Sessions I knew instantly that I had to read it because one, it is a psychological thriller and two, it discusses serial killers which is a topic that has always fascinated me.
Sessions is a unique novel that is hard to describe thanks to its intricate and detailed plot; however, I am going to try my best to! The reader will be introduced to two primary characters, and the reader will follow them both as they go head to had in seven, very different and challenging therapy sessions which will see them unearth many shocking truths. What follows is truly shocking but also captivating and is definitely not to be missed book lovers!
The story of Sessions is well-developed with many layers that are all intricately well-developed as well as intriguing. The multiple layers throughout Sessions are fascinating and will have readers minds racing with thoughts as the reader is compelled to think about the troubling ‘sacrifice’ at the heart of the story. As I read Sessions I loved the feeling of being challenged, I loved having to invest myself fully in the story as I tried to think about the crime and predict the events. Thompson is an incredible author because she manages to pull the reader into the novel, captivate them and compel them to read from beginning to end and Thompson does this by lacing twists and turns throughout her book which will keep readers on edge. I tried to predict the plot many times, but Thompson’s story is so unpredictable that I could never once guess it correctly! The fact that the plot is so unpredictable makes it enthralling from beginning to end, and this is all thanks to the genius writer B.J. Thompson.
B.J. Thompson is a literary talent as she knows how to captivate her readers from the start. Thompson is a writer who does not hold back, she thrusts her reader into the thick of the drama very early on, and she keeps them turning the pages thanks to her impeccable descriptive powers. Thompson perfectly describes the scenes in her book, as well as her characters and this, correctly places the reader in the thick of the story as the reader is able to imagine every place and event immaculately. The characterization of all of her characters is phenomenal, and every character will command an opinion, and those are the best characters in my opinion.
Overall Sessions is a sensational, thrilling and exciting action-packed novel that will captivate readers for many hours on end, so I have no choice but to award this incredible book five stars! If you are a reader who loves thrillers, then you will adore Sessions so please, do not miss out on the opportunity of reading this incredible book!
